Prevents Soil Compaction

Soil compaction occurs when pressure sources, usually foot traffic or heavy rain, compact the soil to a point where plant roots will not grow and water can not absorb.  Bark mulch will first, provide a protective layer to prevent future compaction, then, overtime, slowly decompose, amending the soil with wood fibres that will reverse soil compaction. This will improve soil tilth and overall plant health by breaking up the hardened soil.
